SUMMARY:Balancing Acts: Janet Abrams
DESCRIPTION:Balancing Acts\, the first solo exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art alumna and renowned art\, architecture and design critic Janet Abrams\, comprises over a dozen sculptures that put clay in conversation with diverse materials\, including steel\, copper\, rawhide\, rubber\, and wood. The exhibition tracks Abrams’s evolving studies of balance\, gravity\, and precariousness. Drawing inspiration from the work of 20th-century sculptors such as Alexander Calder\, Ruth Duckworth\, Lucio Fontana\, Eva Hesse\, Barbara Hepworth\, and Ruth Vollmer\, Abrams’s sculptures set opacity and weight in contrast to translucency and levity and reject the convention that ceramic artifacts must be earth- or pedestal- bound. Forms and materials are brought together in compositions that seem to harness kinetic energy\, conveying a frisson of risk-a condition she describes as “a metaphor for the precariousness of life itself.”\n \nDates: 1.30.26 to 5.2.26\nTimes: Every Tuesday–Saturday\, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SUMMARY:Formulation: Articulation | Josef Albers
DESCRIPTION:Formulation: Articulation showcases selected prints from Josef Albers’s landmark portfolio of the same name. Released in 1972\, just four years before the artist’s death\, Formulation: Articulation comprises 127 screenprints across sixty-six sheets\, reflecting more than four decades of Albers’s sustained investigation into the relationship between color and optical perception. The portfolio contains an extensive range of color studies\, including a total of seventeen double-sheet works from Albers’s infamous Homage to the Square series. Initially received with bemusement\, today\, Formulation: Articulation has gained acclaim as one of the most important visual compendia of color relationships in modern history. This exhibition presents selections from the milestone portfolio unlike any survey before it\, with parings of prints selected for their vibrant dialogue and displayed for both close study and enjoyment in floating mounts.\n \nDates: 2.27.26 to 5.23.26\nTimes: Every Tuesday–Saturday\, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SUMMARY:"Envision"– NMSA's Annual Junior Visual Arts Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Each Spring semester\, our Junior Visual Artists embark on new personal projects\, with teacher and peer guidance\, to develop a series of self-expressive pieces featured in this collective class exhibition.  Students research artists and themes of their choosing as they merge personally meaningful concepts and media.  As a group\, they learn to install the exhibition with instructor support and develop pre-professional visual arts skills along the way. \nThe Junior exhibition is an example of one of VA’s many intentional skills scaffolding experiences.  “Envision” supports students by developing their ability to research and build a personal body of work in preparation for their Senior Thesis Exhibition and eases them into the challenge of balancing creative freedom with the added responsibility to a deadline and one another. \nOpens Friday\, March 6\, 5-7 pm\, runs through Thursday\, April 9th\, 2026

SUMMARY:What the River Knows
DESCRIPTION:Glen Canyon Institute—in collaboration with New Mexico Wild\, Caldera Action\, and Crow Canyon Archaeological Center—presents What the River Knows\, a Good Intentions Paving Co. documentary exploring the reemergence of Glen Canyon from the receding waters of Lake Powell reservoir. As the West faces the urgent need to redesign water management\, we are offered the chance to restore one of the planet’s most stunning landscapes. What the River Knows explores this unique reflection point in a centuries-long history\, weaving together past and present to reveal a new way forward for the Colorado River.\nThe evening will open with Glen Canyon Rising\, a documentary short from Crow Canyon Archeological Center featuring Hopi archaeologist Lyle Balenquah and author Craig Childs. This powerful visual and narrative experience reveals layers of human history embedded in the landscape. As water levels fall\, generations of cultural footprints are revealed\, and dormant ecological systems begin to stir once more. \nFollowing the film screening\, the event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring:\n– Adam Kackstetter (Crow Canyon\, Program Manager)\n– Daryl Vigil (Water & Tribes Initiative\, Co-Director)\n– Glen Canyon Institute \nAudience Q+A to follow.\n\nTICKETS: Click HERE

SUMMARY:Vanna Curated Living - Debra Fritts in conversation with Julia Leonard
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to begin a new offering at Vanna Curated Living: an intimate Salon Series\, where once or twice a month we gather in the early evening for conversation with artists whose work lives among us. \nOur first salon will take place Friday\, March 20th from 4–6 PM\, featuring Abiquiú-based ceramicist Debra Fritts in conversation with local author and interviewer Julia Leonard. \nDebra works intuitively with wet clay\, hand building each sculpture and firing her pieces multiple times to achieve their layered surfaces. Drawing from oxides\, slips\, underglazes\, and glazes like a painter’s palette\, her forms emerge through a process of listening to the earth\, daily life\, and the quiet stories held within the material. \nDate & Time: Friday\, March 20th from 4–6 PM  \nWebsite: Vannacuratedliving.com/events

SUMMARY:Zane Bennett Contemporary Art - Lucid Perturbations: The Sewn Drawings and Books of China Marks Part One
DESCRIPTION:Join us on 24 April 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. for part one of the opening reception of Lucid Perturbations: The Sewn Drawings and Books of China Marks\, an exhibition of over 200 sewn tableaux by China Marks. Featuring a total of 147 yards of fabric\, a length nearly one and a half times the height of the Statue of Liberty\, this monographic exhibition is installed in the gallery’s 5\,000 square feet of exhibition space\, weaving a tapestry that records a quarter century of an unsung artist’s singular vision and consuming passion for drawing with the sewn line.  Although once lauded by The New York Times arts writer Grace Glueck for the bravura of her avant-garde sewn work\, Marks has remained largely under the radar. Lucid Perturbations presents to the public\, for the first time\, the broadest survey of the psychological nooks and crevices of Marks’s sewn multiverse in all of its dark humor\, aporia\, and wit. \nDate(s): 4.24.26\nTime(s): 5–7 p.m.\n\n\nCHINA MARKS | A Junkyard in the Jungle\, 2019. SUMMARY:Vanna Curated Living - Lisa Jensen in conversation with Julia Leonard
DESCRIPTION:Our second salon will take place Friday\, April 24th from 5–7 pm\, featuring sculptor and lighting designer Lisa Jensenin conversation with local author and interviewer Julia Leonard\, held at our Railyard Gallery located at 530 S Guadalupe St\, Santa Fe\, NM. Conversation begins at 5:30\, with space to arrive and linger after. \nLisa Jensen’s work moves across ceramics\, light\, and textiles\, exploring the relationship between structure and softness\, precision and play. Her coil-built clay vessels echo the female form. Her lanterns draw the sky closer to earth\, holding and releasing light in equal measure. \nAfter decades as a costume designer in the film industry\, Lisa now works from her studio in El Guique\, New Mexico\, creating across materials including clay\, fiber\, paper\, wood\, and metal. Each piece carries a sense of touch\, movement\, and form shaped by a lifetime of making. \nThese evenings are an invitation to slow down\, to listen\, and to experience the stories and processes behind the work in a shared\, conversational setting. \nFriday\, April 24th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Conversation begins at 5:30pm!

SUMMARY:Vanna Curated Living - Flower Full Moon Sonic Experience with Majel Connery
DESCRIPTION:The Flower Full Moon arrives Friday May 1st\, a moment of abundance when what has been slowly forming since autumn blossoms. Growth becomes visible\, the landscape shifts\, and something once held inward surfaces into sight. \nAt Vanna\, we’ll be honoring this threshold with an evening of ambient sound and collective presence. Musician Majel Connery will steward the evening\, shaping her voice through live electronics into vast\, shifting textures that move like weather. \nHer work echoes the emotional clarity of hymn and chant while stretching it into something expansive\, intimate\, and strangely unbound. Each performance traces a full arc\, opening an immersive space for you to follow your own path through release and renewal. \nThis gathering marks the beginning of an ongoing series at Vanna: a space to gather each full moon to reflect\, and hold space for one another and the cycles that shape us. \nFri\, May 1\, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM MDT

SUMMARY:Charlotte Jackson Fine Art - A Conversation with John Beech and David Chickey
DESCRIPTION:They are not just black and white photos. The subject matter is urban: city streets\, industrial sites\, alleyways\, warehouse facades. Within them is the accumulated flotsam and jetsam of human life in a city: dumpsters\, random pieces of abandoned furniture\, bits construction equipment. But each photo is also ground for the artist’s intervention: blobs and washes of paint\, ink marks\, strips of tape. \nWe humans take things for granted: a street\, a chair\, the passage of time. How long since you really saw that alley\, that tree? The Photo-Paintings and Monotypes of John Beech do just this. They challenge our preconceptions\, providing the jolt\, the pause\, that invites us to pay closer attention. These works confound our sense of what a photo is\, what a painting is\, and how we see art and the world. Across the Surface provides a survey of Beech’s Photo-Paintings and Monotypes from across the decades and dovetails with the announcement of a new book about this particular body of work forthcoming from Radius Books in spring 2027. \nBeech’s art brings together expected and unexpected in ways that allow the viewer to see anew and to experience a whole beyond the sum of these disparate parts. \nThe show will open on May 29 and extend through June 27\, 2026.  An Opening Reception with the artist will be held on Friday\, May 29 from 5-7 p.m.  On Saturday\, May 30 from 2 to 4 p.m.
