SUMMARY:Charlotte Jackson Fine Art Presents Helen Pashgian
DESCRIPTION:Inside the spacious\, open gallery are five white plinths\, each topped with a single seven-inch spherical sculpture by founding member of the Light and Space movement\, Helen Pashgian. Conceptually\, it is hard to imagine how a mere 900 volume-inches of sculpture could possibly hold its own in such a vast space\, but they do. Quietly placed are four small wall pieces using her vocabulary of clear and simple geometric figures and forms. Unquestionably\, Pashgian sits firmly among the founding members of the California Light and Space movement \nGrand opening\, Friday\, October 10\, 5pm-7pm

SUMMARY:Blue Rain Gallery presents Robin Jones: "Nos Galan Gaeaf"
DESCRIPTION:Blue Rain Gallery Santa Fe celebrates Halloween in all its permutations this year with a thought-provoking collection of new work by figurative painter Robin Jones on October 31\, 2025. This new show is titled “Nos Galan Gaeaf\,” which is the Welsh name for the night preceding November 1\, the first day of winter in Wales. As with Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations around the world\, in Wales it’s a time when it is believed that the veil between life and death is at its thinnest and spirits roam freely about the land. \nWell-known for her evocative musings on the natural world\, environmental issues\, and the interconnectedness of all living things\, Jones takes us on a magical journey through a spirit-filled world via portraits of pre-adolescent and teenage girls that reveal some delightfully contrasting concepts: youth as both innocent and wise\, animism/spirituality versus religion\, timelessness amid the linear progression of days\, years\, centuries. Using an autumnal palette that reflects both the season and the Celtic coloring of her young subjects\, Jones strikes a contemplative tone as she shows us a variety of scenes in Wales\, Scotland\, and Celtic France (Brittany)\, each of them portraying young girls sharing space with animals\, elements of nature\, and human-built structures.  \n“The inspiration behind this body of work began with a deep dive into my own ancestry\, including the spiritual and cultural aspects of the Celtic lands of Wales\, Ireland\, Scotland and Brittany\,” Jones says. “The animistic aspect of Celtic pagan spirituality\, where all things have spirit\, is something that has spoken deeply to me and which I practice. In these paintings I’ve included ideas/energy/inspiration taken from animism\, as well as structural elements from the specific Celtic lands\, landscapes\, and non-human beings cohabitating with humans.”  \nArtist Reception: Friday\, October 31st from 5 – 7pm \nThe show will run from October 31 to November 11\, 2025

As with Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations around the world\, in Wales it’s a time when it is believed that the veil between life and death is at its thinnest and spirits roam freely about the land. SUMMARY:Charlotte Jackson Fine Art - David Simpson | Paintings
DESCRIPTION:In Paintings\, the viewer can view a collection of Interference paintings by David Simpson from over the course of four decades. Ranging from the massive 6-foot diameter Tondos to the small 6×6-inch squares\, these pieces shine and shift as the viewer moves around them. \nThe Tondos are large enough to feel almost like portals into a world of pure color. The depths and roil of purple in Violet Idyl contrast with the elegant golden orange of Cyprian Tondo. A piece like Rosa Reverso shifts dramatically from a subtle\, dusty rose-mauve to a shining gold\, while a piece like Over & Under Lavendar seems to shift through every possible permutation of the color. The smaller works\, move differently but still shift and shine remarkably. From the greeny undertones within the copper sheen of Yellow Copper 6 to the moody aqua of Ryder 6 or the frosted and shadowed orchid-magenta Small Universe\, these pieces present a continuing evolution of colors. \nThe viewer moves along with this mysterious inner-shifting of light and shadow. We follow the glint\, dive into the dark\, ride along the tide of shifting hues. In the heart of winter\, our phototrophic selves move through the gallery like flowers tracking sun. \nOpening Reception\, Saturday January 10\, 2 – 4 p.m.

SUMMARY:Balancing Acts: Janet Abrams
DESCRIPTION:Balancing Acts\, the first solo exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art alumna and renowned art\, architecture and design critic Janet Abrams\, comprises over a dozen sculptures that put clay in conversation with diverse materials\, including steel\, copper\, rawhide\, rubber\, and wood. The exhibition tracks Abrams’s evolving studies of balance\, gravity\, and precariousness. Drawing inspiration from the work of 20th-century sculptors such as Alexander Calder\, Ruth Duckworth\, Lucio Fontana\, Eva Hesse\, Barbara Hepworth\, and Ruth Vollmer\, Abrams’s sculptures set opacity and weight in contrast to translucency and levity and reject the convention that ceramic artifacts must be earth- or pedestal- bound. Forms and materials are brought together in compositions that seem to harness kinetic energy\, conveying a frisson of risk-a condition she describes as “a metaphor for the precariousness of life itself.”\n \nDates: 1.30.26 to 5.2.26\nTimes: Every Tuesday–Saturday\, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
